Q1Is this a replacement for my practice management system?

No — and we don't want to be. Missing Information is a focused tool for one specific job: tracking and chasing missing client information. Keep using Xero Practice Manager, Iris, Karbon, Sage, whatever you use. Missing Information runs alongside and integrates with most of them.

Q2How long does onboarding take?

Usually 1 afternoon. Import your clients (CSV or direct from Xero/QuickBooks), open their relevant service periods, configure your chase cadence. Average time to first chase going live: under 4 hours. We include scheduled onboarding help on Firm and Scale plans.

Q3Can clients use this without downloading an app?

Yes. The client portal is a mobile-optimised web page. They click the link in the chase email, it opens in their browser, they upload files and click "mark as done". No app to install, no password to remember (magic link auth by default).

Q4What happens to my data if I cancel?

You can export everything to CSV or a .zip archive at any time. If you cancel, your workspace is marked inactive immediately, data is retained for 30 days in case you change your mind, and then irreversibly deleted unless you've requested an export. No "data hostage" tactics.

Q5Does this work for sole practitioners?

Yes — the Solo plan is built exactly for this. Up to 25 active clients, 1 admin seat, every feature included. Many of our Solo customers are 1-partner practices with occasional virtual-assistant support.

Q6How is this different from a shared spreadsheet?

Spreadsheets don't chase clients. Spreadsheets don't give clients a portal to upload. Spreadsheets don't have UK deadlines pre-loaded. Spreadsheets don't distinguish a bank statement from a receipt. Spreadsheets break when 3 people edit at once. Missing Information is what you'd build if you had a year to build the ultimate spreadsheet for this one job.

Q7Can I white-label the client portal?

Yes, on Firm and Scale plans. Custom subdomain (clients.yourfirm.co.uk), your logo, your colours, your email sender domain. On Solo and Practice plans it's "Missing Information, powered by [Your Firm]" co-branding.

Q8How do you handle MTD ITSA?

A dedicated service workflow with the 4 quarterly update periods + the final declaration, all with the right deadlines pre-loaded. Standard item templates cover self-employment and property income. We piloted this during the 2025 HMRC trial phase — ready for full April 2026 rollout.

Q9Can you help us migrate from an existing system?

Yes. On Firm plans, we include scheduled migration support. On Scale plans, we offer full-service migration — you send us your data, we map it, we validate, you approve. Common migration sources: spreadsheets, Karbon, TaxDome, Client Engager, bespoke Excel systems.

Q10Do you have a partner / referral program?

Yes. 20% recurring commission for 12 months on any firm you refer. No limit on referrals. Pay-out via bank transfer monthly. Email partnerships@missinginformation.co.uk to join.
